DISCOVERY

Upon boarding air-conditioned buses, you will drive northeast of Puerto Vallarta, to a small town called El pitillal. This truly “local village” is where most of the workers in the area live. Passing the beautiful church and Main Square, you will stop at Aquí Es Jalisco, a small replica of a tequila factory(not a working tequila factory).

Here you will learn about the history of tequila and, if you desire, taste test the various tequilas. In addition, you will watch a Huichol Indian in full costume make the fine beaded works of art objects for which that Huichol Indians are known. There will be other demonstrations such as rolling cigars and hand painting dresses.Re-boarding the bus enjoy a ride through the downtown area along the malecon, passing Old Vallarta and then up the highway through an area called Conchas Chinas- also known as the Beverly Hills of Vallarta.

As you continue heading south, you will arrive to the scenic viewpoint for a photo opportunity of Mismaloya Beach, where the movie, Nights of the Iguana, was filmed. Returning north back to Puerto Vallarta , you will stop at the Mundo de Azulejos Tile Factory. Here on the second floor of the factory you can see how tiles are formed, painted, fired and processed. The first floor has a variety of tiles and ceramic objects that can be purchased. Returning to the bus and drive back through Puerto Vallarta, passing by the Cathedral of your lady of Guadalupe. If time permits, you may request to be dropped off in downtown and return to the ship on your own.

Please note: This tour requires little walking and does not stop at the Cathedral.
